The idea for YogaBrain was born the day Henry Boulton participated in a 108-round Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) practice in Brisbane, Australia. After class, he spoke with his yoga teacher Alana about how wonderful Surya Namaskar made him feel, but how difficult it was to accurately count the 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar.
Henry observed that the act of constantly counting, and the concentration required to remember what round it was, prevented the teacher and students from entering a flow state, the ultimate goal of the practice.
Henry and Alana began to discuss how amazing it would be to have an app count the rounds for you. Then, at the same time, they exclaimed, “Why don’t we create an app for FocusBand to count the rounds of Surya Namaskar!”
With an app to take on the responsibility of counting, the user could finally experience the ideal flow state while practicing yoga. This had never been done before. And that is how they created YogaBrain.
